Mrs. Laura Dostie
Laura Dostie joined Atlanta Public Schools in 2013 at Warren T. Jackson Elementary School. A native of metro Atlanta, she grew up in Peachtree Corners, GA. Laura received her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Furman University. Mrs. Dostie began her teaching career in Spartanburg, SC, in 2009. Upon returning to Atlanta in 2013, she taught fourth grade and gifted education before transitioning to lead Jackson’s STEAM signature program. Under Laura’s leadership, Jackson Elementary became the second school in the nation to be certified as both Cognia STEM and International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. Laura has a passion for STEAM education and strives to prepare students with the skills and knowledge to be successful innovators ready to change the world! Laura participated in the APS Aspiring Assistant Principal’s Program and was named Warren T. Jackson Teacher of the Year in 2023.
Laura lives in Chastain Park with her husband, Michael; children, Walker, Christian, and Evie; and their dog, Derby. They enjoy spending time outdoors and exploring new food spots around Atlanta!
Laura is excited to join the Virginia-Highland family as Assistant Principal! She looks forward to working alongside faculty, students, and families to prepare students to make a positive impact on the future!
