Mrs. Denise Bringslid
Denise Bringslid began her career in education in 2011 through Teach for America - teaching middle school mathematics in Lake Village, AR. After fulfilling her program commitment, she moved back home to Atlanta to continue teaching in APS. Most recently, Denise worked at Mary Lin Elementary School, where she taught mathematics before transitioning to the role of Instructional Coach. Denise has a B.S. from Georgia Tech and an M.Ed. from Georgia State University, where she is currently working on a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies (Social Foundations of Education). Denise has a passion for teaching and learning mathematics, and her research focuses on how we can empower underrepresented individuals in STEM fields from a sociological perspective. She believes that in order to develop critical thinking skills, we must begin to *spark* each child’s sense of wonder at an early age - which is why she loves working with elementary students. Denise participated in the APS Aspiring Assistant Principal’s Program and the Cahn Fellowship for Distinguished Principals in 2019-20.
Denise lives in North Decatur with her husband, Stephen Crouse, children Gray and Lillian, dog (Ollie), and cat (Wilson). Stephen is also a Georgia Tech grad - Go Jackets! They enjoy playing board games, hiking/camping, and visiting with family.
Denise is honored and excited to join the Virginia-Highland Elementary family as Assistant Principal and she can’t wait to get to know the staff, students, and families at VHE!
