Mrs. Alex Bosfield
Hello good people ๐๐ผ๐ฆ I'm excited to share a bit about myself and my journey in education that has led me here, to Virginia-Highland ES! I'm currently entering my 23rd year of education, and it's been an incredible adventure so far. I've had the pleasure of teaching K-8 in Georgia and Minnesota. In APS, I’ve taught at Inman MS, SPARK, and Parkside ES. I've also served as an Instructional Technology Coach for Kennesaw State University. Before deciding to return to the classroom last year, I worked as a Coordinator of Innovation and Redesign for the district.
I grew up in a small town in Vermont with my parents and two older sisters. It was there that my passion for teaching was ignited by my older sister, who has been a dedicated teacher for 35 years. When she was a student teacher in the 4th-grade classroom next to my 3rd-grade classroom, I was inspired by her love and passion for teaching. I earned my bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a major concentration in anthropology from the University of Vermont. I then went on to get my master's in technology in education from Lesley University. Additionally, I have endorsements in reading, ESOL, and teacher leadership.
In my free time, I love to travel with my husband, who is a flight attendant. I also enjoy nerding out with non-fiction books, watching mysteries, attempting successful gardening, and exploring new restaurants around the city. I’m also slightly obsessed with sloths ๐ฆฅ
As a teacher, I believe that communication is key! Building strong relationships with my students, colleagues, and parents is crucial to ensuring a successful year. I hold my students to high academic standards, but my ultimate goal is for each of them to leave my classroom as more empathetic and happier little humans.
