Mr. James Davis

I am James Davis and I am the PROUD Physical Education Teacher at Virginia- Highland Elementary School. I started my journey in education as a substitute teacher. Then, I became an interrelated paraprofessional, while finishing my B.S. Degree in Early Childhood with a minor in Special Education, at Mercer University.  While gaining my Gifted Endorsement and completing my Masters and Specialist Degrees in Early Childhood at Brenau University, I had the pleasure of teaching Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, EIP, and 5th Grades. I have also served in the capacity of Multi-Tiered System of Support Specialist (MTSS), Instructional Coach, PE Ambassador for Atlanta Public Schools, GO TEAM (Chair/Vice Chair), Instructional Leadership Team, Care Team, SEL Team, Tutor-Mate Service Coordinator, Hands on Atlanta Tutor Coordinator, STEM Team, Afterschool All-Stars Tutor/Director, Lego Club Sponsor, and the biggest cheerleader for all scholars and staff. Lastly, I was recognized as the 2023-2024 Teacher of the Year.

I am a native of Troy, Alabama and have lived in Metro Atlanta since 2005. During my free time I am either DJing, Line Dancing, or playing with my Cocker Spaniel, Semaj. Also, if I am not booking trips for people, I am traveling myself. I have been to 11 countries, seen 2 of the 7 Wonders of the World, and been to 24 of 50 states.

As a result of these 17 years in the education profession, I have learned three key elements from my scholars that have helped me produce authentic and relevant lessons. These elements include:

Exposure is the key to opening students’ minds to new things in life

If I build it, they will come

When you invest in your own program, lesson, or self - - the world invests in you even more.

My main goal is to make sure that scholars' experiences are memorable and enjoyable each and every day as I continue to LIVE MY DREAM!
