In the STEAM of Things!

The Frederick Douglass High School's STEAM Program includes multifaceted initiatives, programs, curriculums, and connections for students within the community. The theme is “STEAM Astros Flying the Globe and Cracking the Code to a Sustainable Future!” Under the arts program, they have initialized the FDHS Sonic Engineering Club/Curriculum which places focus on bridging the gap between student interest and core STEAM content via music. Students interact with and develop concrete skill sets for several career pathways within sound/audio engineering. Our program covers hardware, software, computer programing, mixing, mastering, production, marketing, synthesizers, and content related creativity.

The Georgia Music Grant program recently awarded Douglass a $5,000 grant to support the STEAM program.
