• Overview of the Carver Band Program 

     

    The Carver Band Program instructs students in all aspects of instrumental music and performance. It is directed by Dr. Warren Williams. A major component of the Band is the Mighty Marching Panthers, comprised of students from Carver Early College and Carver STEAM. 

     

     

    The Mighty Marching Panthers is an Award-Winning High School Band. Here are some highlights of our events and activities this year:

     

    The Carver Mighty Marching Panthers traveled to Columbus, GA to participate in the 85th Annual Tuskegee Morehouse Football Classic. This performance included a parade through downtown Phenix City, AL and Columbus, GA, to celebrate the nation’s oldest HBCU Football Classic. This event also included a special pregame performance with the renowned Tuskegee University Marching Crimson Pipers, America’s Oldest HBCU Band Program.

    The Carver Band also travelled to Birmingham, AL to participate in the 83rd Annual McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade. Known for being the biggest HBCU classic in the world, the Carver Mighty Marching Panthers performed for thousands of spectators during this historic event.

    The Carver Mighty Marching Panthers dominated in a spectacular performance of musicianship and showmanship during the DDUB SHOWDOWN Battle of the Bands. This event took place at Lakewood Stadium and featured 5 of the top performing bands in APS as well as 5 top performing bands from the metro area. Carver ranked in the largest division of bands and went head to head with several powerhouse programs. The event concluded with special performances by Albany State University, Ft. Valley State University, Virginia Union University, and Talladega College. The Carver Marching Panthers Class of 2025 secured over 25 scholarship offers for our seniors, exceeding the previous senior class record of total scholarships.

    Last weekend, the Carver Band Department was invited to perform for Vice President Kamala Harris and the Harris/Walz campaign during their final campaign rally for the 2024 Election. This event took place at the Atlanta Civic Center and included thousands of supporters from all walks of life. The Carver Mighty Marching Panthers performance was captured by several local, state, national, and international media outlets, including Radio France, the French national public radio broadcaster.
