• Built in 1938, Garden Hills Elementary is a Title 1 school on the National Register of Historic Places.   Our beautiful brick building is nestled among the older homes and stately trees of Atlanta's historic Garden Hills neighborhood, a neighborhood that has become more diverse as the population's ethnicity continues to change.  The economic status ranges from the very high middle class to lower income homes.  There are nearby retail businesses, plazas and malls to meet the needs of our community.

We were the first Atlanta Public School to become an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme.  We are actually going through our reauthorization cycle this spring.

In 2015 Garden Hills began the APS dual language immersion journey. We now have Spanish DLI classes in grades Pre-K through 5th grade here at Garden Hills. Our students continue the journey at Sutton Middle School and then later at North Atlanta High School starting in 2024.

We are proud of our links to the greater community and enjoy the support of mentoring, tutoring and business relationships throughout the Atlanta Area
