Built in 1938, Garden Hills Elementary is on the National Register of Historic Places. Our beautiful brick building is nestled among the older homes and stately trees of Atlanta's historic Garden Hills neighborhood, a neighborhood that has become more diverse as the population's ethnicity continues to change. The economic status ranges from the very high middle class to lower income homes. There are nearby retail entrepreneurs, plazas and malls to meet the needs of our community.
Our mission is to provide enriching and challenging academics in a culturally rich and diverse environment. Students are taught respect for the individual and are empowered to go out into the world with compassion and caring for others.
We were the first Atlanta Public School to become an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme. We are now in our third year as an authorized school and will go through our Evaluation visit this spring.
We are proud of our links to the greater community and enjoy the support of mentoring, tutoring and business relationships throughout the Atlanta Area.
