What is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment is designed to prepare students for college and career opportunities, leading students to postsecondary institutions for an industry recognized certification or licensure, an associate and/or higher college degree, and successful employment. Students may enroll on a part-time or full-time basis as a Dual Enrollment student and take college courses at their high school or on a postsecondary campus. Students will receive high school and college credit simultaneously when attending and passing approved college classes. (GaDOE, 2023)

Our Dual Enrollment partners are Georgia State University, Atlanta Metropolitan State University, Atlanta Technical College, and specific programs offered at the Atlanta College & Career Academy.
What Dual Enrollment opportunities does Carver STEAM Academy offer?
Carver STEAM Academy offers 3 dual enrollment program opportunities.
- Core Academic coursework (English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language) in partnership with GA State University, Atlanta Metropolitan State University, and Atlanta Technical College. Students can earn college credit up to an associate degree. The Early College Essentials Program is available at both Atlanta Metropolitan State University and Atlanta Technical College.
- CTAE coursework in Cybersecurity at Atlanta Technical College as a part of the Carver STEAM IBM-P-Tech program. Students start taking Dual Enrollment coursework in 10th grade with the opportunity to earn a fully paid associate degree in Cybersecurity.
- Specific CTAE Dual Enrollment coursework and/or Early College Essentials program at the Atlanta College & Career Academy.
Who is eligible to participate in Dual Enrollment?
- P-TECH students begin Dual Enrollment in 10th grade.
- All other students can begin Dual Enrollment in 11th or 12th grade.
How much does Dual Enrollment cost?
- Scholars participate in Dual Enrollment at no cost for up to 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours.
