Ms. Joya Florence was born in Atlanta, Georgia. She attended Clark Atlanta University and Morris Brown College where she received her Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education with honors. In 2009, she successfully earned a Masters in School Counseling from Cambridge College. Having over 10 years of experience as a classroom teacher with Atlanta Public Schools, she has gained the ability to design creative and exciting lesson plans, differentiate instruction to accommodate all learners, and provide an enjoyable atmosphere that fosters learning. In 2007, she received her gifted endorsement through Atlanta Public Schools. Throughout her years as an educator she’s had wonderful opportunities to serve as grade level chairperson, the school’s reading reform ambassador, as well as, the school’s Teacher of the Year during the 2010-2011 school year. Her goal as an educator is to provide each student with an opportunity to reach his or her fullest potential. Some of her greatest strengths include inspiring and motivating students. She enjoys building relationships and watching students grow and excel academically, socially, and personally.
