Behavior Expectations

  • Students will follow a merit system. Students must have 21 boxes out of 25 boxes to participate in the end-of-year activities.
    • How to lose a box? Walking out of class, being a class disruption, and fighting.
    • How can they gain boxes back? If they maintain all their boxes, they will receive one extra a month.
  •  Classroom expectation
    • Come to class prepared each day
    • Come with an open mind
    • Have a pencil
    • No talking as the teacher is taking
    • Consequences
      • Team time out: students will sit at another grade level
      • Silent lunch/ no recess

Testing

  • Write Score
    • November 14th
  • Winter Map
    • Window: December 2-13
  • Georgia Milestone
    • Approximately 90 school days
    • 4 Tests: Reading, Writing, Math, and Science
    • Testing Window: April 28-May 14

Attendance

  • It is important that students are at school each day. If a student is
    absent please make sure to provide a doctor’s note or an excused
    parent note.

Academics

  • Math: Students are moving to unit 4: Fractions
  • ELA: work with students on writing
  • Science: Science Fair projects are due on 11/21 (please check your
    students bookbag for a yellow form that explains everything).
  • Tutorial : Mondays and Thursdays
    • Monday Mornings: 7-7:25 am (Dr. Davis)
    • Monday Afternoons: 2:45-3:15 pm (Dr. Crawford, and Ms.
      Eldridge) 2:45-3:45 pm (Dr. Burch)
    • Thursday Afternoons: 2:45-3:45 pm (Dr. Burch, Ms. Eldridge)
  • No more than ten students per session. Students must be picked up by 3:20 pm on Monday and 3:45 pm on Thursday. Permission slip to stay must be filled out prior to students staying. We will begin on Monday, November 18th.

Infinite Campus:

  • Please continue to monitor your students’ grades in IC. Progress grades have been posted as of 11/14.

End of the Year Activities:

  • We are in the process of planning a fun and enjoyable 5th grade week that will potentially include:
    ○ 5th Grade Dance
    ○ Six Flags, a cookout
    ○ T-shirt
    ○ Please look out for more information to come in January. More details will be shared at the next parents' meeting.
