At King, we help students develop IB Learner Profile and Approaches to Learning Skills. This month we are encouraging students to develop Open-Mindedness and strong Self-Management skills to succeed in school and beyond.
Families can help foster Open-Mindedness by encouraging respectful discussions about different perspectives, watching diverse movies or reading books from various cultures, and trying new foods or traditions together.
To support Self-Management, families can create a shared calendar for assignments and activities, set up a dedicated study space, and model goal setting by discussing personal and family goals. Also, families can practice mindfulness, calming strategies, and self-control techniques. By practicing these habits at home, students build responsibility, adaptability, and lifelong skills for success.
