My name is Larry A. Guilford and I am looking forward to a great 2018-2019 school year. I’m excited to work with our outstanding young men, and also a creative and energetic staff.
I have been in education for 15 years, beginning as a Senior Program Coordinator at C.W. Long Middle School for (3) years. I then transitioned to central office for (6) years working as a District Coordinator over High School Graduation Coaches in Atlanta Public Schools and in DeKalb County School District as a District Coordinator over (15) Title I schools. I realized how much I truly missed working with students and families directly and was eager to transition back to a building. For the next (3) years I worked as a Behavior Specialist at Ralph J. Bunche Middle School and North Atlanta High School focusing on closing the achievement gap with identified subgroups. For the last (3) years I have served as the Assistant Principal at Eddie J. White K-8 Academy serving over 1400 students in the largest K-8 school in Georgia.
Over the past (15) years I have written thousands of dollars in grants for various projects aimed at improving the learning environment. Implemented enrichment initiatives that produced improved test scores that ranked in the top (3) amongst other middle schools in the District. I also served as a presenter for Clayton County Public Schools at the state PBIS Conference.
On a personal note, my wife and I have three wonderful children. Andrea is a fifth grader that loves playing softball and basketball and she is ranked in the Top 20 in the country for 5th grade girls’ basketball players. Adrian is a fourth grader and he loves playing baseball and basketball. D’Andre our oldest child is a graduate of Georgia Southern University.
I am Larry Guilford and I am… “At Your Service”!!!
