The mission of Hollis Innovation Academy’s Counseling Department is to Reach each Student every day to Exceed Standards by providing a comprehensive counseling program, aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) model, designed to meet the academic, personal/social and college/career needs of all students so that they may become responsible and productive lifelong learners. As a counselor, I serve as a student advocate who supports all students and helps to prepare them for college, career, and life readiness. I ensure that all students are taught 21st century skills such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.
Hollis Innovation Academy’s School Counseling Department's vision is to support all students to create a community of global citizens, modeling strategies of team building, conflict resolution, problem solving and personal communication skills through individual counseling, small group counseling, large group counseling, and peer/adult mentors.
Throughout the school year, we implement various programs like Drug and Alcohol Awareness “Red Ribbon Week”, No Place for Hate, Speak Up and Be Safe (Personal Body Safety), Career Lessons, Career Interest Assessment and Development (5th & 6th grade), Peer Mediation, and Career Awareness Speaker Series. If you or your child(ren) are interested in participating in any of the small groups I am offering this year, please let me know. I will be covering topics like anger management, friendship, organization, and testing skills.
