• Early College Program

    Carver Early College (CEC), the first Early College program in Georgia, welcomed its first class in 2005 as part the Atlanta Public Schools Small School Initiative.  With Georgia State University, a research-based institution as its partner, CEC sought to change the face of higher education by targeting those students traditionally underrepresented on college campuses.  Within the Early College model, students identified as underrepresented - first-generation students, students from lower socioeconomic status, students of color, and black male students - are able to begin post-secondary course study whiled enrolled in high school, with the assumption that they will continue their college tenure after high school graduation.

    The Early College Program has successfully reduced the achievement gap and introduced the option of college to Early College students through programming and strategies focused on high school graduation and college and career readiness.
