    Dear Parents and Students.

Welcome to another wonderful year of teaching and learning at J. W. Dobbs Elementary School!  Our primary purpose at Dobbs Elementary is to diligently and effectively serve all stakeholders, and we look forward to providing you and your family with excellent customer service.  It is with great pleasure that we welcome back all new and returning students to our educational community.

In keeping with the school’s vision and mission statements, our theme this year is “Empowering Scholars and Cultivating Leaders”. We believe that all of our students have potential and it is our responsibility to nurture their talents and make sure that they grow academically, socially, emotionally, and physically.  Dobbs has the best faculty and staff members in the district who are committed to providing a high-quality education for every student.   To ensure that Dobbs recognizes the promise and potential in each student, home and school must work together, communicate, and share the responsibility for the success of our learners.  Please know that you are always welcome in our school because Dobbs belongs to each of us!  Our Parental Involvement and Engagement Committee along with Ms. Hutchings, our Parent Liaison, are planning several events to assist you and strengthen the home–school connection.  We only ask that you sign in with the front office staff, wear a visitor’s pass, and volunteer.

Please remember that Dobbs' PTA is an integral partner in our high performing learning community.  This organization generously provides us with funds and volunteers to support our educational efforts.   Please remember to join PTA (the cost is $5.00) and attend monthly meetings and support our school throughout the school year.

Thank you for the opportunity to serve your child(ren), and it is truly my honor to serve as your principal.  Please do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of assistance because my door is always open to you.

    Your Proud Principal,

     Charnita V. West, Ph.D.
