Jerry Parker, III holds a bachelor of education in Technology Education and a master of education in Technological Studies from the University of Georgia. He has an educational leadership endorsement from the University of West Georgia and a specialist of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Lincoln Memorial University.
He is committed to educating the whole child and has learned the importance of providing assistance that supports the social, emotional as well as academic needs of students. He believes in meeting the child where they are. This entails treating each child as an individual and customizing learning for the person and not the grade level.
Mr. Parker began his service in Public Education in 1997 at Brooklyn Center High School in Brooklyn Center, Minnesota where he taught courses related to multiple aspects of engineering. In 1999, he began working for Atlanta Public Schools. During his tenure with APS, he has worked as a Technology Education Instructor, Instructional Technology Specialist, Model Teacher Leader for Career and Technology Education, Academy Leader, Interim Principal and Assistant Principal. In addition, Mr. Parker has presented both nationally and locally on the topics of technology integration and small school planning. Prior to being assigned to Usher-Collier Elementary, he was the interim Principal at BEST Middle School and Academy Leader for Grady High School’s Biomedical Sciences and Engineering Academy. Through these positions, Mr. Parker gained firsthand knowledge of the teaching and learning process at various instructional levels.
Currently, Mr. Parker is the Principal at Usher/Collier Heights Elementary. He leads with enthusiasm and is dedicated to creating an academic environment that meets the needs of both the students and teachers.
Mr. Parker is married to his high school sweet heart, Mindy and they have two beautiful daughters Logan and Chloe.
