2017-18 News & Notes
Greetings and Happy New School Year from the GO Team Office!
We are so excited for the new school year and all of the opportunities to support student success through our work with you as members of your school’s GO Team! We have a few important reminders and things that you should know as your team works to get the 2017-2018 school year off to a great start.
2017-2018 Kickoff Meeting - All GO Teams should be working to determine the date for your first meeting of the 2017-2018 school year. Once your team has selected a date, please submit the date for your 2017-2018 Kickoff Meeting to the GO Team Office so we can be available to support you! All kickoff meetings should be held no later than September 29, 2017. As a reminder, all GO Team meetings must be publicly noticed on the school website/GO Team tab, at the school and using the school’s normal communication channels no later than 24 hours prior to the meeting (standard practice is 7 days prior to the meeting).

After Your Meeting- Submit the names of your 2017-2018 GO Team Officers
Updating your GO Team Website - All schools should have a GO Team webpage on their school website. The GO Team Office has archived 2016-2017 information and created 2017-2018 GO Team pages for all schools that use the standard APS template. If your school does not use the standard APS template, you will receive a separate email with instructions on what you should do to update your GO Team page. Moving forward, the GO Team Secretary will be responsible for updating your schools GO Team webpage. If you need step by step assistance with updating your website, click here for instructions.
Filling Vacancies - We understand that you may have vacant seats on your GO Team that need to be filled. Information on the vacancy process, as outlined in the GO Team Handbook, is below for your reference.
Section 2.8. Vacancies. Vacancies on the GO Team must be filled by a temporary replacement member. The replacement member will be nominated by the principal and appointed by a majority vote of the remaining GO Team members. The GO Team must appoint a replacement member to fill the unexpired term of the removed/resigned member no later than 60 days from the departing GO Team member’s removal or resignation. The replacement member will fill the vacancy until the position’s regularly scheduled election, at which time the replacement member will be eligible for election or appointment through the regular election/appointment processes. Replacement members must fill the same eligibility requirements for the vacant position, and all rules for GO Team member participation must be followed.
