David became principal at BPA in 2015.  Since that time, he has worked to make our school’s vision a reality; “BPA continues to become the neighborhood school of choice and a compelling traditional public school option for the child of ANY family living in East Atlanta Village and Reynoldstown.”  David is most proud of BPA’s work toward authorization as an International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme school.  We’re on track to be fully authorized during spring/summer 2019.  Two additional programs that help differentiate BPA from other schools in our area include our focus on Orton-Gillingham phonics and structured literacy as well as the school’s focus on Social Emotional Learning (SEL).  These three programs, IB, O-G, SEL, have been the hallmarks of David’s first few years as principal at BPA and he is proud of how far the school has come in these three main buckets of work.  Prior to leading the team at BPA, David taught for several years at the elementary level in Gwinnett County and Atlanta Public Schools and held a variety of leadership roles in schools and central office positions.  Originally from East Tennessee, David now resides in East Atlanta and loves living in working in our community.
