Dear 2nd Grade Parents,
As the new challenge school year begins I would like to introduce myself. My name is Dr. Tusha Porter. I have taught nineteen years with the Atlanta Public School System. This is my seventh year at Morris Brandon and my six year as a gifted/challenge teacher. A good learning experience is built on a cooperative effort between parent, child, and teacher. My expectations for conduct and standards for academic growth are high. With your participation in and out of the challenge classroom we can look forward to a productive, creative, and fun year together!
I am excited about this years challenge program. I hope we can work together to make it one of growth, discovery, and significance for your child.
Your help is needed in order for your child to have the best experience in completing class assignments. Having the proper equipment and supplies everyday will make completing assignments easier. Your child will avoid a lot of frustration if he/she has the suggested items below.
- 1 3 prong folder with pocket
- 2 spiral notebook
- 1 glue stick
- 1 pack of notebook paper
- pencils
Your child will be graded on our classrooms’ “Essential Agreements”. The essential agreements are as followed:
I do what is asked and much more,
That is why I earned a 4.
I do everything that is asked of me,
That is why I earned a 3.
I don’t do all I’m asked to do,
That is why I earned a 2.
My work is missing or not done,
That is why I earned a 1.
Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have this year. Our school number is (404) 802-7250. Please leave a message with our office staff, and I will return your call at my earliest convenience. I can also be reached by email attporter@atlanta.k12.ga.us.
I am looking forward to an exciting and challenging year.
Sincerely,
Dr. T. Porter
