  • Please visit the Health Services webpage for additional health-related information, including immunization requirements, communicable diseases, health screening opportunities, and health initiatives.

  • Atlanta Public Schools (APS) remains focused on ensuring the health and safety of our students and staff in our schools and buildings. We want to remind everyone of our APSProtects approach, which encompasses our comprehensive COVID-19 health and mitigation protocols:

    1. Testing and Vaccinations: COVID-19 surveillance testing will no longer be available in our schools and buildings. However, at-home COVID-19 test kits will be available for distribution at APS schools and buildings. Please get in touch with your school nurse or manager for additional information on obtaining test kits. Test kits are available for students, staff, and their families. We encourage everyone ages five or older to take the COVID-19 vaccine. The vaccine is widely available throughout our community, and the Fulton County Board of Health has several options, including mobile units. See more details below. Boosters are available and encouraged for those who are eligible.
    2. #MaskOptional: Atlanta Public Schools (APS) will continue to have a Mask Optional protocol for all faculty, staff, students, and visitors in all APS buildings.
    3. Safety and Cleaning: Atlanta Public Schools constantly works proactively to keep our students and staff healthy and safe, especially in our COVID-19 environment.
    4. Case Isolation + Close Contact Guidance: As part of the district’s Health and Safety Guidelines, APS has prepared Case Isolation and Close Contact Guidance Protocols that include specific details on who needs to isolate and what steps close contacts should take.
    5. COVID Weekly Case Report: For the 2023 - 2024 school year, APS will no longer provide weekly updates on the number of positive cases in schools and buildings. This is due to the end of the APS COVID-19 surveillance testing. However, historical case counts and vaccination rates will remain on this page.
    6. Health Services Webpage: The Health Services Department continues to monitor COVID-19 and other communicable diseases in school buildings. Health Services also focuses on tracking childhood immunizations, promoting health screenings, and bridging the healthcare gap. Please visit the Health Services Webpage for more information.
