2. Strategic Plan Work Session
- Motion made to begin work on the Hutchinson Strategic Plan

- The attendance section of the Strategic Plan has been solidified thanks in large part to the GO TEAM and their list of Innovative Ideas to support student attendance
- There is a need for parent incentives

- ELA (Goal: At the end of each quarter, students will achieve 75% mastery on Benchmarks per grade level, not classroom)
- Increasing LEXILE scores will be the focus for ELA
- Unit Guides and Pacing Calendars must be closely followed and monitored
- Real Men Read will support the ELA goal of improving LEXILE scores, while promoting the importance of reading
- Innovative Idea: Grade Level AR (Accelerated Reader) Assessment based on student ability (low, medium, high) all focusing on the SAME text
- Study Island (studyisland.com) is going to be repurchased to support content area instruction
- Lesson plan feedback and a Coach’s Checklist will be created to monitor pacing guide instruction
- There has been no review of the STAR student data as of yet
- Mathematics Goal: At the end of each quarter, students will achieve 75% mastery on Benchmarks per grade level, not classroom
- The Unit Plans require additional supplies and materials; Is there funding available for these items as they are required for lesson plan implementation? Yes

- Olivia Walker Hall will work closely to conduct on-going PD during collaborative planning time focusing on Math strategies that work

- On September 13th the GO TEAM will present to the faculty, the 4 goals being integrated in the Strategic Plan
- The last week of September, Hutchinson will host its FIRST Parent Math Night (activities, food, and giveaways)

- The design process will begin in 2018 followed by construction scheduled for Summer, 2019)

- Hutchinson ES will be partnering with Atlanta Food Bank to support 100 families in our community
- Once per month they will provide 2-3 fresh items to prepare a meal
- September 11, 2017 from 1:30-3:30P.M. in the school cafeteria

- Dr. Broadway charged the GO TEAM with editing/revising the current Strategic Plan which proved successful for Hutchinson students
- Per downtown, our plan needs minor adjustments after being transferred into narrative form
- What do WE want for our school?
- Noletha High stressed the importance of focusing on school priorities and at a later date merge the school/STEM mission as one, as well as edit for aesthetics

- STEM Endorsement funds will be budgeted by Dr. Broadway if the course is not offered through APS
- STEM visits must occur annually; set for May 2018
- The teacher page is in need of update (with rubric) on Hutchinson’s website
- Hutchinson ES Budget, FY 2018-2019
- The current budget allocated funds for 496 students
- The 2018-2019 budget allocates funds for 442 students
- There is a new formula for distributing funds; Extra funding has been designated for Early Elementary Literacy (K-3); Poverty is no longer based on Free/Reduced Lunch Status; Hutchinson has been designated as a “Small School” – less than 500 students (additional budget funds were granted)
- An extra allocation of $4,339 per student (300 students) has been granted
- Supplemental funds are available for Gifted students
- Budget will be readjusted to avoid a negative balance
