Parents/guardians who are active PTO members are invited to run for the 2023-24 PTO Board. Please note the deadlines below and read our FAQs for more information.
August 28th: Deadline to become a PTO member and fill out your nomination form.
September 5-8: PTO Board election voting open.
September 11: Election results announced.

Who Can Run?
Parents/guardians who are active PTO members (those who have joined by August 28, 2023) are welcome to self-nominate for a Board position by August 28, 2023.
How do I know if I’m a PTO member?
Login to your Membership Tool Kit account:

Click on ‘My Account’ from the top navigation bar.

Choose ‘Account Settings.’

Choose ‘Membership’ from the blue tabs across the top of the page to find your membership status.
How do I become a PTO member?
Sign up for or login to your Membership Tool Kit account:

Click on ‘My Forms’ button (find it in the left hand navigation bar).

If you’re not already a Member, you’ll see the form ‘Join PTO.’
How much does it cost to be a PTO member?
Parent/guardian dues are $5/person which are paid annually at the beginning of the school year. However, we do offer a pay-what-you-can option where you can choose $0-$4. Please note: if you have previously paid for PTO membership (before signing up for Membership Tool Kit), please fill out the ‘Join PTO’ form and input $0 in the pay-what-you-can field.
Faculty/staff memberships are $0, however, you still must complete the form.

What Positions Are Available?
The PTO Board consists of 11 parent/guardian volunteers. You may run for president, treasurer, or director-level positions.
Those elected as directors will be matched with specific positions after the first Board meeting.

How Can I Run?
Login to your Membership Tool Kit account and fill out the form ‘2023-24 PTO Board Election Nomination Form' by August 28, 2023. Find this form in the ‘My Forms’ section of our account.

How Do I Vote?
PTO members (those who have joined by September 28, 2023) will be emailed a ballot on September 5, 2023. Voting will remain open through September 8, 2023.

When Will Results Be Announced?
Election results will be announced on Results will be announced on September 11, 2023, by email and then posted online at www.virginiahighlandelementary.com.

What Can I Expect as a Board Member?
PTO Members are required to attend a monthly in-person meeting and commit approximately 4-8 hours of work to their appointed committee. Members of the Executive Committee (President(s), Treasurer(s), and Secretary) have an added monthly meeting prior to the monthly Board meeting.
The PTO Board works closely with VHE administration and staff and the wider VHE community of parents and guardians.
