Alexa Smith
Greetings! My name is Alexa Smith and I am very excited to be joining Humphries Elementary School serving as your Instructional Coach. I am a native of Atlanta, GA and a proud graduate of Atlanta Public Schools. I attended college at Georgia State University, majoring in Early Childhood Education, and I have a Master’s degree from the University of West Georgia, where I majored in Reading Specialization. I am a 12-year veteran educator and have spent my most recent years serving as an Instructional Specialist in Atlanta Public Schools. I recently celebrated my 12th wedding anniversary and my husband and I have two wonderful children, ages nine and six.
My primary roles at Humphries will be to coach teachers, train staff members, share best practices, and analyze data to improve academic outcomes. I will also support students and engage families in celebrating the myriad of teaching and learning experiences that will occur in our school and our classrooms. I am committed to ensuring that our students, our staff, and our families work together to educate the whole-child so that they grow, attend college, start a career, and enjoy choice-filled lives.
There is an old adage that says, “It takes a village to raise a child.” I am glad to be a new member of the Humphries village. I believe that by working together we can continue to raise the children in a positive, supportive, and academically-challenging learning environment. I look forward to getting to know you in the new school year! Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. I am here to serve and support you.
