• Counseling Classroom Lessons

    All students at Humphries Elementary will participate in counseling classroom lessons. The curriculum follows the standards set forth by the American School Counselor Association's (ASCA) national model and is preventative in nature, while still addressing the needs of the students at Humphries in the areas of academics, personal/social development and career awareness.     Small Group Counseling

    Small group counseling will be offered to students who are referred by teachers, administrators and/or parents. This is an opportunity for students to work with the counselor and other students who have similar interests or concerns.

     

    Individual Counseling

    Individual counseling is also offered during the school day. These sessions are kept confidential, except when students disclose that they are being hurt, are hurting or planning to hurt someone else or want to hurt themselves. Should students need more long term counseling services, Humphries works in partnership with Northstar Psychological Services and can provide referrals for outside counseling as needed.

     

    Parent Consultations

    I am here to serve the students and their families. I am happy to provide parent consultations to assist with any concerns parents have regarding their student. Some examples of what I can help with are:

    • Exploring ways to help your child succeed 
    • Improving parent-child communication
    • Providing referrals for outside resources
    • Understanding the developmental changes of childhood
