How to Join

  • As a member of the Student Advisory Council, you are an important person. You and your fellow council members are entrusted with the improvement of Atlanta Public Schools. All our schools are unique and as member of this council it is imperative that you be the voice and representation. Being a council member means you are best suited to decide what will be effective and help our schools, communities, academics, and most importantly the student body. 

Application Process

    1. Local Student Government Associations (SGA) are encouraged to appoint one representative in April for the upcoming school year.
    2. The Student Advisory Council application will open in March to allow all interested high school students across the District to apply. Selected students will fill the school’s second seat on the Council. 
    3. In April, SAC Advisors will review all submitted applications and select one student from each school. 
    4. Selected council members will participate in a transition meeting in May to prepare for the upcoming school year. 
    5. The new council will be announced at the Board Meeting in June.
