    Adults 18 and older:

    To enroll in the Atlanta Public Schools Adult Education Program, participants must meet the following requirements:
    • You must be at least 18 years old,
    • Present valid identification (i.e. current state identification cards, current driver's license,  passports, green cards and alien registration cards)
    • Attend the orientation session
    • Complete enrollment information and the TABE assessment 
    Assistance is provided to prospective participants during orientation if needed.
    Individuals 16 and 17 years old:
    Persons 16 and 17 years old  may register with parental consent.  Students under the age of 16 are not permitted to enroll in the program.  Registration for minors is conducted at the main office, The Adult Education Center.

    Both the student and the parent/guardian must be present with the following:
    • Withdrawal form from the last school attended, with a withdrawal date
    • Copy of the birth certificate (parent's name must be on the birth certificate) or valid ID
    • Guardianship documentation (if applicable)
    • Parent's/guardian's valid picture ID

    Online GED Test Prep Option

    • Want to prepare for the GED then complete the test at your local testing center? 
      In partnership with Adult Learning, Atlanta Virtual Academy offers a FREE comprehensive GED Preparation Program...100% online. We offer everything you will need to prepare for and pass the GED test including virtual tutoring, video instruction, and practice exams.
      GED Online is an Internet-based interactive course designed to prepare participants for the GED Examination. This free online course provides students with the opportunity to learn anytime, in any place, on any device, and at any pace. This unique learning experience allows the instructor to communicate with students regularly via telephone and email. Individualized instruction is provided to accommodate the diverse learning styles of each learner. Subject areas include: Language Arts--Reading and Writing (including essay writing), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.
      Admission Requirements:
      TABE test scores at 9th grade or above
      Below are the steps you must take to enroll in the GED Online program:
      1.   You must register in person at the Adult Education Center: 1757 Mary Dell Drive, Atlanta, Georgia 30315. Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. every Monday.
      2.   Please bring a valid ID or driver's license
      3.   Take the TABE test and score a 9.0 or higher. Please be prepared to stay until 1:00 p.m.
      4.  Must own a computer to access virtual classes and  web-based GED sites.
