My name is Kassia Walker and I am excited to be the mathematics and science instructional coach for the 2017-2018 school year! My job is to provide the necessary instructional support to ensure teachers are successful, with the ultimate outcome focused on improving student achievement. I work with teachers one-on-one and in small groups to apply and reinforce best practices through modeling lessons, co-teaching, and providing research-based professional development.
I moved to Atlanta from Kansas City to attend Spelman College. It was there that I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Development. I have also earned a Master’s in Education degree and an Educational Specialist degree, both in Teaching and Learning. Additionally, I have a Mathematics Endorsement. Prior to becoming a mathematics and science coach, I spent 15 years teaching first through fifth grades. Nine of those years were spent in classrooms right here at Peyton Forest!
I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and support such a magnificent staff and such promising students. I am confident that this will be Peyton Forest’s best year yet!
