My name is Dondrill McFarland. I am the School Counselor at Peyton Forest Elementary. I am originally from Rochester, NY, where I graduated from Joseph C. Wilson Magnet High School in 2001. I have two Master’s degrees; one in Counselor Education from North Carolina A&T State University and a second Master’s in Educational Leadership from Queens University of Charlotte. I have worked as a school counselor for seven years.
My role as a school counselor has truly been rewarding and I’m excited about working with students, families, and staff of Peyton Forest. My belief is to encourage and empower all students to reach their goals. As a counselor, I conduct classroom guidance lessons. All lessons are based on the American School Counseling Association’s (ASCA) national model where the focus is on academic, career and personal/social development.
I also run several small groups throughout the year that address specific concerns such as: grief, social skills, self-esteem, academic skills, etc. Parental permission is required for group participation. In addition to small groups, I see students individually. Referrals may be made by students, parents, and or teachers.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about the school counseling program.
