Mrs. Anntionette Thompson, Ed.S
Dorothy Anntionette Thompson known as “Anntionette” was born and raised in Georgia. She began her career in Fulton County Public Schools in the following capacities: Pre-K Coordinator & Social Worker, Professional School Counselor & SST/504 Coordinator. She later had the opportunity to transition to our district in the role of SST Specialist, Social Emotional Learning Coordinator and her current role as a Professional School Counselor. Anntionette specializes in working with children who have social and emotional challenges. She has been in the field of counseling and psychology since 1999.
Anntionette earned her bachelors of psychology with a concentration in counseling from Morris Brown College. She furthered her education and earned a master’s in counseling and psychology from Troy State University. After working in education and in the mental health field, she gained an interest in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), later earning an advanced degree in school counseling from Fort Valley State University. While serving students in the capacity of a Professional School Counselor, Anntionette realized she found her purpose in education. She later obtained her specialist degree in counseling and psychology with a concentration in school counseling from the University of West Alabama. She is a lifelong learner therefore she decided to take a SEL 101 graduate course at St. Elizabeth College to enhance her knowledge on the importance of Social Emotional Learning in urban schools.
Anntionette has served on the board of many mental health agency to consult them on the SST process as well as how to bridge the gap between home and school with students who struggle socially and emotionally. She is also a Gallup certified Strengths Coach for our wonderful school district, Atlanta Public Schools. Anntionette loves reviewing and analyzing data to ensure that all stakeholders are equipped with information to move ALL students from good to great and from great to excellent. She believes that all students are great learners but it is important for educators to understand and educate the whole child.
