Degrees and Certifications:
Mrs. Sarrita Allen
Sarrita Allen started her teaching career as a math teacher at Inman Middle School over 10 years ago. She has had many roles at Inman and within the district: Math Department Lead, Grade-Level Lead, Curriculum Writer, Instructional Coach, Level Up Math Summer Academy, and most recently serving as the assistant principal for David T. Howard Middle School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Georgia State University, GSU. Deciding not to take a break immediately enrolled back at GSU for the Master’s program in Secondary Education, and Summer 2020 completed the Leadership Certification add-on also from Georgia State University. In September 2019, Mrs. Allen was named a 2019 – 2020 APS Students First finalist for the entire district.
She learned very early that education was a gateway to more opportunities. In seeing the impact of education on her own life, she has committed to passing the passion of education to all students, especially students of color. Mrs. Allen has always enjoyed being a teacher but now leading educators, she is overjoyed at the ability to make learning easy, fun, and exhilarating for all students; where they look forward to coming to school. She models life-long learning to be sure that she makes decisions that are appropriate for the current students that she serves. You often find Ms. Allen working with her colleagues through a discussion of professional learning communities, collaborative planning, and presenting at state and district conferences.
Mrs. Allen and her husband have two children, Ryleigh and Drew. Her hobbies include online shopping, working out, and chatting about things she loves the most.
Mrs. Allen believes “Students need adults who believe that they can learn at high levels and those adults do the HEARTwork to ensure that the students are learning no matter the circumstances.”
