Jenny Lockwood has taught first through fourth grades since 2004. She earned a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Education in Early Childhood Education from the University of West Georgia. In August 2011, she earned her Educational Specialist from Georgia State University. Mrs. Lockwood believes in being a lifelong learner and continuously looks for opportunities to explore new topics. She has earned endorsements for Gifted Education, Mathematics, Reading, Teacher Leader and Teacher Support Specialist.

Mrs. Lockwood has been with Atlanta Public Schools since 2006. Prior to APS, she taught 3rd grade at North Douglas Elementary in Douglas County. Then she moved to Centennial Place Elementary in APS where she taught 1st grade and 2nd grade, in addition to serving as the Mathematics Instructional Coach and interim Challenge teacher. Since Mrs. Lockwood joined the Springdale Park faculty in January 2010, she has taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades.

Throughout her tenure as an educator, Mrs. Lockwood has served as grade level chair and on various committees. She has presented professional development sessions to school staffs and at conferences. Mrs. Lockwood has also written and earned grants from the Council of Intown Schools, Centennial Place Foundation, DonorsChoose.org, and Georgia Council for Teachers of Mathematics to fund projects, such as Math Buddies and Math Take Home Bags. In 2013, Mrs. Lockwood was selected for one of the Atlanta Families’ Awards for Excellence in Education. The focus of her project was Full STEAM Ahead with Learning. Mrs. Lockwood was the 2017-2018 Atlanta Public Schools District-wide Elementary Teacher of the Year.

Mrs. Lockwood is married to Billy Lockwood. They have a beagle named Burdell. During her free time, she enjoys reading, crafting, and photography. On the weekend, you might find her hiking, at a concert, or cheering on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets at a football or basketball game. Mrs. Lockwood also loves to travel near and far. Most importantly, she loves to spend time with her family and friends.
