I am grateful for this opportunity to serve the students, staff, and families of Perkerson Elementary as the ELA Instructional Coach for grades 3-5.

I have been a full-time educator since 1989.  I taught in Douglas County Public Schools from 1989-1998, where I had the  privilege of starting my teaching career with 1st and 2nd grade scholars.  From 1998–2013 I directed my passion for teaching to my two sons and was thankful to spend those years with my children as a homeschool educator.  During 2013-2017, I had the pleasure of teaching at Praise Academy in Cobb County.  I was blessed to join the Perkerson family in July of 2017.  Since coming to Perkerson I originally focused my energies in 2nd and 3rd grade and had the honor of modeling effective instructional strategies and exemplifying a healthy and exciting classroom environment. In 2021 I became a Master Teacher Leader, and in 2022 I began serving as an Instructional Coach.

I believe strongly in developing healthy relationships with scholars and their families. This happens through consistency, love, and discipline.  When these three traits occur, obedience happens.  When obedience happens, learning takes place. Obedience creates a safe environment where students are able to explore and learn. Obedience is key to developing a lifelong learner.  Train a child to obey, and he/she can set and obtain the grandest of goals.  This philosophy has been lived out daily in my previous classrooms at Perkerson Elementary, and I hope to take this same philosophy and share it with other educators.  Together, we can help each other become more effective teachers and help each scholar develop into a successful and lifelong learner!

I am happily married, and we have two sons and two lovely daughters-in-law. I love listening to music, watching movies, eating chocolate, but I mostly enjoy spending time with family and friends.

I look forward to helping make this school year THE BEST year Perkerson has had!  With our wonderful Perkerson parents and our hardworking administrative team and staff, each student will grow in wisdom and in knowledge. .

We believe. We can. We will.

    Mrs. Angela Terry, M.Ed.
