Ms. Blassingame, as she is affectionately called by staff and students, initially studied engineering in college. When a counselor advised her to change her major to education because of her considerable mathematics acumen, she heeded that advice. Three degrees later - B.A. Middle Grades Education, M.A. Curriculum and Instruction, Ed.S. Educational Leadership - the rest is history! Her caring, but no-nonsense style have caused her to be a positive and stabilizing influence for students on her grade level and the teachers she leads.
This school year, Blassingame begins her 9th term as Assistant Principal at RBMS. Her prior education experiences include; Math Teacher for seven years and Instructional Coach for seven years. Her advice to teachers who aspire to matriculate to a leadership role is, “Autograph your work with excellence!” Blassingame’s advice to students who want to succeed in the classroom is, “Be positive, be prompt, be prepared, be productive and always participate!”
She is also recognized for her considerable culinary skills. Her future free time goal, when plane travel returns to normal, is to explore other countries to absorb information about their culture and cuisine.
