Jennifer Barrenger, originally from Hyde Park, New York, is an accomplished educator with a profound passion for teaching and community involvement. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from the State University of New York College at Oswego (SUNY Oswego). Jennifer furthered her education at Piedmont College, where she earned a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education and an Education Specialist Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

Jennifer began her teaching career as a substitute teacher in Gwinnett County in 2008. From 2010 to 2020, she made significant contributions in Gwinnett County, teaching K-2 Autism, first grade, second grade, fourth grade, and also served as an Instruction Coach. During her time teaching second and fourth grades, she specialized in the English Language Arts side of the Dual Language Immersion Program. In 2020, Jennifer transitioned to the City Schools of Decatur, where she continued her work as a fourth grade teacher.

Jennifer is driven by her love for teaching, as it allows her to make a meaningful impact on her community. She believes that teaching is one of the most direct ways to contribute positively to society. Jennifer is dedicated to being a safe space, a friend, and a positive influence for her students. She takes immense joy in watching her students grow and develop their character, gifts, and grit throughout each year. The opportunity to be part of each student's growth motivates her to return to the classroom year after year.

Jennifer is thrilled to join the SPARK community, drawn by its culture of respect, teamwork, and fun. She admires how SPARK embraces and loves each student for who they are. The unique activities and experiences provided by SPARK stand out to her as unlike any other school she has worked at.

Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys reading, listening to music, and exploring all that Atlanta has to offer. She can often be found relaxing with her two dogs, Buddy and Eliza, or spending time with friends who have become like family.
