IT Enterprise Applications is a dynamic group of educational professionals that tirelessly work to ensure that over 55+ applications run smoothly and efficiently for the students, teachers, and professionals of Atlanta Public Schools.
This month we are highlighting four amazing individuals that have helped to move our district forward one project at a time.
Who are you? Where are you from, how long have you been in Atlanta, what other work experience do you have prior to APS?
My name is Tamu Taylor an I am originally from the Fountain City, Columbus, Georgia. I have lived a total of ten years in Atlanta (off and on). My prior experience includes Process Improvement at Aflac and Software Programming at Accenture, TSYS, Muscogee County School District and Duke University. I also have a non-profit dedicated to immersing kids in technology related programs.
How long have you been with Atlanta Public Schools?
I have been with APS for 3 years.
What are you currently developing and working on?
I am currently preparing to roll the District off of the SharePoint 2010 platform and move to Office 365. I also assist with Lawson/GHR interfaces.
How do you think your work impacts students within Atlanta Public Schools?
I think my work impacts students indirectly by giving staff tools they can use to facilitate their everyday work activities.
Please describe your latest project(s) and successes in their implementations.
My latest project involves moving the District off of SharePoint 2010 and moving to the cloud. We are in the middle of this transition, so stay tuned for word on successes!
What advise would you give to someone who is new to Atlanta Public Schools?
The advice I would give to someone new to APS would be to learn to be adaptive and ready for change without losing the successful tools and practices you have gained prior to coming to APS.

Grover Tyson - Application Support Analyst for myBackpack. I am from Savannah. I have lived in Atlanta for 23 years. I previously worked for IBM in Learning Services.
How long have you been with Atlanta Public Schools?
11 months.
What are you currently developing and working on?
Support and Integration for myBackpack. Applications that are single sign on from ClassLink.
How do you think your work impacts students within Atlanta Public Schools?
My team strives to make student applications an SSO experience. Students can remember one set of credentials for all the apps they use for class.
Please describe your latest project(s) and successes in their implementations.
Implementation of Think Central and Compass Learning.
What advise would you give to someone who is new to Atlanta Public Schools?
Listen and learn to help improve and solve the needs of the students and staff.
