        Eligibility Requirements

        To become a substitute, you must:

        1. Pass a Fingerprint/Background Check: Ensuring the safety of our students is our top priority.
        2. Meet Educational and Certification Requirements: Depending on the position, requirements range from a high school diploma to a valid Georgia teaching certificate.
        3. Complete Training: Non-certified substitutes must complete an online training course with a passing score of at least 80%.

        How to Apply

        1. Submit Your Application: Complete the online application and upload all required documents.
        2. Complete Online Training: If applicable, complete the online substitute training course and upload your SubDiploma.
        3. Stay Updated: Track your application status online. Due to high application volumes, we will contact only those actively being considered for a position.

      Sub Hiring Process

      • Substitute Application and Hiring Process

        Complete Application

        • All required documents must be uploaded to your application before consideration for employment
        • Complete application here.
        • Upload all supporting documents to complete the application process
        • Check the job posting for a list of required documents.

        Complete Online Substitute Training

        • The Online Substitute Training Course is $39.95 per person and can be purchased online with a Visa or Mastercard. The course is designed by the Utah State University Substitute Teaching Institute and delivered by STEDI.org.
        • Completion of the Online Substitute Training Course with a composite passing score of at least 80% is required to receive a SubDiploma.
        • Upload the SubDiploma to your Atlanta Public School’s application as proof of the substitute training requirement.
        • A valid/expired teaching  OR valid/expired paraprofessional certificate exempts an applicant from taking the online Substitute Training Course. If exempt, upload a copy of your certificate of application.
