• The Department of Special Education @ Phoenix Academy offers a broad continuum of services for students through twenty-one (21) years of age. Following a comprehensive assessment that may include a psychological evaluation, educational testing, speech-language assessment, audiological testing and other assessments, a student may be eligible to receive services in one or more of the following categories of the disabilities listed on the Atlanta Public Schools Department of Special Education website.

Greetings! My name is LeLita Thomas. I am the Special Education Lead Teacher for Phoenix Academy and the Department of Special Education 18+ Transition Programs. Helping students to achieve their goals motivates me daily. My entire teaching career has been serving the special education students, parents, and community. I earned a Master's Degree in Moderate Intellectually Disables, Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administion and in Computer Science and Associate of Science degree in Psychology. I will be a lifelong learner. 
 
My favorite math equation is E = mc2 . Why? Because it relates to everything seen and unseen. There is not a thought you can have nor a move that you make that does not directly tap into E = mc2. The energy you give is the energy you will get. We can debate this anytime. 
 
Let me leave you with two more thoughts; Nelson Mandela said," Education is the Most Powerful weapon which you can use to change the world". George Washington Carver said, "Where there is no vision there is no hope". 
 
Education is all of that! It's the energy you give to it, it's the power you must use to modify the world and it's the vision that gives you hope!
