Benteen Elementary Band and Orchestra Teacher

Ms. Kristina Murray is an accomplished musician and music educator.  A native of Richmond Virginia, she earned her B.A. in Music Education from Virginia Union University in 1993.  Her career as a music educator began in 1994 in Richmond Public Schools and since then she has had the wonderful opportunity to teach K-5 General Music, Band, Chorus, and Orchestra to students from kindergarten through college. 

Throughout her almost twenty-five year career, Ms. Murray has taught in Virginia, North Carolina, and has been teaching in Atlanta Public Schools since 2018.  Wherever she teaches, she shows her true love and passion for educating children.  She feels it is important for her students to have “real world” experiences in music performance.  Since being a member of the Benteen Elementary family she has brought in professional musicians from the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, The Atlanta Music Project, as well as having Emory University Orchestra students tutor and perform for Benteen Students.  In addition, she has provided the opportunity for Band students to perform at a Maynard Jackson HS football game.  Ms. Murray’s goal is always to provide students with the best music education possible!
