Ms. Sherry Davis

Sherry Davis, Federal Programs Coordinator, is a proud Atlantan and Atlanta Public Schools alumna with over 13 years of experience supporting APS scholars and schools.  She earned a Bachelor’s of Business degree in Finance from Howard University, a Master’s of Administration in Public Administration from Central Michigan University, and has achieved several AASA Certificates in Leading for Equity and Mental Health First Aid.

Sherry brings extensive work experience from both the private and public sectors, where she worked in Metropolitan Washington, D.C. in education finance at Sallie Mae, management consulting with Accenture and business operations at Freddie Mac and D.C. Government.  Additionally, she served as Diversity and Inclusion Champion for her division while working at Freddie Mac.

Sherry began her APS journey in the Finance Department where she served as Treasury Manager, Special Assistant to the CFO and Budget Director.  Upon transitioning to the Chief of Schools Department, she managed the Summer School and After School programs and implemented the district’s inaugural learning loss mitigation initiative, Spring Break Vacation Academy

Sherry has a personal account of what it means to travail the complexities of social and economic barriers which she experienced as an Atlantan and first generation graduate. As a passionate advocate for youth mental health awareness and recognition of disparities and impediments they face in achieving academic success, she celebrates and embraces the critical shift and focus on marginalized students and is boots on the ground!

Fun fact –  While growing up in Atlanta, Sherry routinely competed in talent shows at what was formerly known as Kennedy Middle School and won her first contest playing harmonica at the Phyllis Wheatley YWCA located near the Atlanta University Center.
