    Mikelle Holmes

     

    Mikelle Holmes’ diverse career in education began in the Fulton County School District.  Mikelle is an alumnus of the University of West Georgia where she received a bachelor’s degree in Education and she also holds a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Georgia.

      

    Mikelle began her career as an elementary school teacher and later became a Gifted and Talented Coordinator.  Shortly after completing her MBA at the University of Georgia, she relocated to Houston, Texas.  Mikelle continued teaching before accepting her new role as a Professional Development Design Specialist for the Houston Independent School District. In this role she provided professional development to principals, assistant principals and teachers to ensure schools had an equitable Gifted and Talented program which included; identification process, monitoring the program and rigorous curriculum.  

     

    In her most recent role as Student Information Analyst, Mikelle analyzed business processes and programs to ensure Atlanta Public Schools successfully met the Georgia Department of Education State reporting requirements.  Mikelle’s experience in both professional development and data analysis drives her passion to eliminate barriers and provide the right resources to ensure all students in APS, especially the most vulnerable and marginalized students, receive a high-quality education.  

     

    The Atlanta Public School Center for Equity and Social Justice aligns with Mikelle’s personal commitment to continue to put “Equity at the Forefront '' to ensure success for all students. Atlanta Public Schools is committed to equity for all. She believes that “In order for all students in APS to have an equitable education it is paramount to understand and leverage the data that plays a role in identifying inequities and providing relevant recommendations to guide equity improvement.”   

     

    Fun Fact:  Mikelle has walked the Great Wall of China.
