The Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl is a long-standing, highly competitive state wide reading competition in the state of Georgia for students in grades 4-12 that began its statewide competition in 2000. Atlanta Public Schools has been a strong supporter of the program with rich competition district wide since it began.

Virginia-Highland Elementary looks forward to participating in the Helen Ruffing Reading Bowl.

Books are chosen from the Georgia Children’s Book Awards finalist list which can be found at this website.

Tryouts for the team take place in September and the district level competition takes place in January.  For more information, please contact our school media specialist.
