Gifted Instructional Model @ VHE

At Virginia-Highland Elementary, gifted students are served using the resource/pull-out model.  Gifted identified students receive one full day of instruction weekly with their assigned GATE teacher. Instruction is provided via semester-long thematic units that extend and enrich the Georgia Standards of Excellence and the Gifted Program Standards. At VHE many homeroom teachers are gifted endorsed. This means that students who are in the gifted program, as well as students who are not in the gifted program, have access to gifted-endorsed teachers and instructional strategies.
