Dean Moultrie literally hails from the edge of America, the South Carolina coast. He is a descendant of the Gullah-Geechee People and grew up minutes from large rice plantations.

Raised by strong black women, education has always been a mainstay in his life. Dean Moultrie received his K-8 education in a very unique, supporting and loving environment that forever impacted his trajectory, growth and development and works to provide the same form all Slater students. Mr. Moultrie has had the privilege of graduating from both, an HBCU and Ivy League university. 

Dean Moultrie has been serving in urban underserved schools in Metro-Atlanta since 2005. Dean Moultrie is a husband, father of four (3 boys, 1 girl), eldest son and resides in the community he serves. He credits his grandparents with instilling in him integrity and a respect for the community/village.
