    Academic bowl is a Jeopardy-style game where school teams compete to answer questions in subjects such as science, literature, history, fine arts, and geography. Thousands of kids across the U.S. play academic bowl, and our team at Howard is nationally competitive.

    Howard Academic Bowl Club is open to all grades, but students should have an interest in academic content outside the classroom.

    Meeting time:  4:30 - 6:00 Thursdays

    Location:  Room 2109

    Competitions:  Some Saturdays from September-May (a calendar is provided as tournaments are announced) 

    Fees:  $35 club fee; each tournament has a fee of $15-20 per student

Academic Bowl Announcements

  • The Howard Academic Bowl Team ROCKED IT at the NAQT 2024 Middle School National Championship Tournament in Chicago this weekend.

     

    The Howard A team placed 5th and the Howard B Team placed 21st IN THE COUNTRY out of a field 160 teams that qualified for this tournament (out of thousands across the country).

     

    This is Howard’s best National performance ever, with two teams qualifying for play-offs at the national tournament for the first time.

     

    Thanks to Coaches Hughes, Hurt, and Heydt for their countless hours supporting our champion scholars who worked toward this result, studying and practicing all year:
    A team: William Heydt, Henry Lee, Eleanor Havers Shore (captain), Advika Singh

    B team: Aimee Ellis, Nate Little, Ishan Reddy (captain), Charlie Tedder, and Austin Yoo
