    Principal Shavaun Mincey

    Ms. Mincey is the proud principal of Bolton Academy, an outstanding school that has benefited from strong leadership, committed educators, and a supportive community. She believes in the importance of partnership and community collaboration to ensure continued success.

    She has been an educator for 18 years and her love for developing learners of all ages is endless. She has 3 degrees; a Bachelors in Elementary Education (Bethune-Cookman University), a Masters in Leadership (Bethune-Cookman University), and a Specialist in Instructional Technology (Kennesaw University). She is currently in her final year of the Educational Leadership Doctoral Program at the University of Georgia.

    Principal Mincey began as an elementary school teacher in Volusia County Public schools. She joined Gwinnett County Public schools as a classroom teacher when she moved to Georgia in 2010. Before becoming an Assistant Principal, Principal Mincey served as an Interrelated Resource teacher, Instructional Coach, and Local School Technology Coordinator at the elementary school level. She served as Assistant Principal at Bethesda Elementary from 2015-2019, and Camp Creek Elementary from 2019-2022. In both schools, she supported the development of students and teachers in the traditional learning model and in the Dual Language Immersion program, with Spanish being the target language. Additionally, she served in a variety of roles: Title I AP, Title IX AP, Professional Development AP, Special Education Administrator, Testing Coordinator, and thoroughly enjoyed working side by side in professional learning communities with the instructional and support staff. 

    As the principal of Bolton Academy, she actively works with the staff and community to ensure that all students are supported in rigorous learning environments that promote inquiry, reflection, respect, and compassion, while always prioritizing a sense of belonging. In the summer of 2023, under her leadership, Bolton Academy won the distinguished Literacy Leader Award from the Georgia State Board of Education in the area of Reading improvement on the Georgia Milestones State Assessment. Only 83 other schools in the state were awarded this growth award.
