  • On Tuesday, January 6, E. Rivers Elementary students and staff started 2015 in a brand new building. The project began at the end of the 2013 school year and provides an inspiring learning environment for students and staff.

“We are excited and ready to bring our kids back to their neighborhood school,” says Matt Rogers, E. Rivers principal.  “The new building is state-of-the art and the site is well laid out for our students, staff and parents.  APS Facilities Services Department and Parrish Construction have been great partners during this process.”

The new building, located on the site of the original school, will house staff and students in grades K-5 with a student capacity of approximately 900 children – nearly double the size of the former building, originally constructed in 1952. The students will attend classes at the new building when they return from winter break on January 6, 2015.

The project finished under budget and within its planned 18-month timeframe.  The new school will offer all of the latest amenities needed by its administration and students to optimize the learning environment.

“It has been a tremendous honor and opportunity to be involved with the E. Rivers project. The level of support and enthusiasm from the E. Rivers administration and the community has been fantastic and unrivaled,” says Paul Miley of Parrish Construction.  “Working alongside APS and Collins Cooper Carusi, our collaborative efforts have yielded a first class facility. The design and construction of this facility not only demonstrates environmental stewardship in the pursuit of LEED Silver certification but also exhibits the facility characteristics to meet the needs of today’s students and faculty."

The School invites the community to attend an Open House Sunday, January 11, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. at its newly remodeled facility at 8 Peachtree Battle Avenue, N.W., Atlanta, GA  30305.
