• SOPHOMORE BLITZ: January 13-28

This year, the MJHS Counseling Team will hold a SOPHOMORE SCHEDULING BLITZ during the month of January to begin the course selection process for the 2025-2026 school year. Starting on Monday, January 13, 10th-grade students will visit the Media Center with their Social Studies class for classroom instruction from the Counselors, which will cover topics such as APS graduation requirements, college & career planning, HOPE requirements, understanding your GPA, and more. You can review the presentation here.

The presentation will culminate with student 1:1 Advisement Meetings. These meetings are a critical part of the sophomore year, where students speak one-on-one with their counselor to discuss their academic path, their future plans, and select their classes for the following school year. We use the Sophomore Checklist (see below) to guide the meeting. 10th-grade students will be determining whether to become a part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma (DP) or Career-related (CP) program. They can also discuss other opportunities such as ACCA, Dual Enrollment, Advanced Placement classes, and more.

Parents wanting to meet with their child’s counselor to discuss their 2025-2026 course selections are invited to schedule an appointment with their counselor at www.calendly.com/mjhscounseling. Please NOTE that this link is for 10th grade parents only.
