Principal Garner Introduction Letter

Greetings AMAYSING Family!

Dear Mays High School Staff and Families:

I am pleased to announce Ramon Garner as the principal of Benjamin E. Mays High School.

Principal Garner has been an educator for over 18 years. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Middle Grades Education from Albany State University, Master of Higher Education Administration from Troy State University, and an Education Specialist in K-12 leadership from Central Michigan University; he is currently pursuing his Doctor of K-12 Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University. Since 2020, Principal Garner has served as principal of John Lewis Invictus Academy. Under his leadership, Georgia Milestones scores increased in seven of the eight statistical categories.

Principal Garner also served as assistant principal of Benjamin Banneker High School in Fulton County from 2014 to 2020 where he led the school’s 9th Grade Academy which resulted in 83% of first-time ninth graders earning sufficient credits to be promoted to tenth grade. From 2011-2014, he served as implementation specialist at Forrest Hill Academy, where he helped increase Criterion Referenced Competency Test (CRCT) scores. Principal Garner also served as the summer academy site administrator at Brown Middle School (2012) and Washington High School (2013), instructional coach at Forrest Hill Academy (2009-2011), and a teacher at BEST Academy (2005-2009).

Principal Garner is happily married to his wife Morgan and they have three beautiful daughters, Taylor, Corbin and Lynden. Mr. Garner will be introduced to the Mays Community in July.
