COMMUNITY SERVICE: GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
For students in cohorts 2025 and beyond, earning ½ of a Carnegie unit, or 75 hours of community service, is the requirement for graduation from Atlanta Public Schools. To avoid procrastination, students in cohorts 2025 and beyond are strongly encouraged to complete a minimum of 20 community service hours per school year for three years, and complete 15 community service hours during the fourth and final year of high school (for a total of 75 hours over a four-year period).

COMMUNITY SERVICE: 2024 - 2030 GUIDELINES
APS students and families are encouraged to reference the 2024-2030 Community Services Guidelines that will go into effect August 1, 2025. These guidelines serve as an aid to assist students in planning to meet the service graduation requirement. Students should consult with their school counselor if they have questions related to the guidelines or service opportunities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: TRACKING
To aid students and schools in the tracking and monitoring of community service hours, the district has partnered with Tiersphere, formerly known as MyVoluntier. Tiersphere is the district-selected web application used to upload, find, track, and mobilize individuals to better impact their communities. To view service opportunities and track service hours in real time, students may access Tiersphere via the portal which is located within MyBackpack.

COMMUNITY SERVICE: PARTNERS
APS values community-based nonprofit organizations that are making a difference. We invite you to become a partner with Atlanta Public Schools. Non-profit organizations who are interested in partnering with APS to provide service opportunities for high school students should access and complete the APS Student Community Service Preapproval Form.
Potential partners should expect to receive a response from Atlanta Public Schools once the pre-approval process is complete. A notification from LeShon Favors, Leshon.Favors@atlanta.k12.ga.us, is provided within 5-7 business days after the pre-approval process is completed.
After the pre-approval process is completed, please complete the partner request link: https://tinyurl.com/yv935fh4 to ensure the most accurate information is provided to Tiersphere to create your Tiersphere account and dashboard.
Questions or concerns regarding Tiersphere can be directed to the official APS Community Service email address, communityservice@atlanta.k12.ga.us or to Tiersphere, help@tiersphere.com.

SERVICE GUIDELINES
TIERSPHERE COMMUNITY SERVICE TRACKING AND MONITORING EASE: To aid students and schools in the tracking and monitoring of community service hours, the district has partnered with Tiersphere. Tiersphere is the district selected web application used to find, track, and mobilize individuals to better impact their communities. Students may access Tiersphere via the portal which is located within MyBackpack. This platform will allow students to research and connect with local service opportunities who need volunteers. To allow students and parents access to monitor service hours in real time, organizations who offer service opportunities are encouraged to enroll into Tiersphere directly. To enroll an organization into Tiersphere, this link https://tinyurl.com/yv935fh4 should be shared with the partnering organization. Students may perform community service within any organization which meets the community organization requirements. Upon completion of service hours with an organization that is not currently enrolled on the platform, students should present documentation on the organization’s letterhead of the details of service (community service contact name, phone number and address of the organization, dates and hours of service, total hours of service completed, brief description of service tasks completed) to the school counselor for submission to Tiersphere.
