  • Dear Mays High School Family,

It is with great pleasure that introduce myself as your new principal. I look forward to getting to know each of you as we work together to continue the long-standing tradition of pride and excellence.

Prior to being named Principal of Mays, I served students as a paraprofessional, middle school math teacher, instructional coach, and high school assistant principal. For the past three years, I have proudly served as the principal of John Lewis Invictus Academy. In addition to a variety of instructional and leadership experiences, I bring to Mays a commitment to the success of all students, a passion for the development of excellence in teaching and learning and a promise to do my best for and with you every day.

Please feel free to drop in, call or email me throughout the summer as I am eager to get to know each of you. Additionally, I will be representing our school on social media via twitter connection @RaiderPride. I want you to know that the admin team and I have been working diligently to ensure we are fully staffed for the year, and that our preplanning experience is well organized and meaningful to get us off to a strong start.

I sincerely believe that it is the people who make a school great. Because of the aMAYSing family at Mays, the school has established a reputation for exceptional student achievement both in and out of the classroom. I look forward to building on the successes by honoring traditions, listening to stakeholder feedback, and observing the existing teaching and learning model.

I hope each of you enjoys a restful and relaxing summer and I look forward to working with you and for you as Benjamin E. Mays High School's new principal.
